We just received Megan's report from our visit to Seattle.
The conclusion of the report was hard to follow behind all of the verbiage, but the bottom line is that she is definitely a candidate for surgery.
Whether she will need the palate surgery (furrow palatoplasty) or the throat surgery (sphincter pharyngoplasty) will be determined while in operation. The tests Megan had, determined that she will most likely have the throat surgery, conservative sphincter pharyngoplasty.
Megan will continue to go to speech once a week.
Surgery is scheduled for Tues, Sept. 6th.
She has dealt with all of this talk so well so far, about speech, surgery and appointments. But today during speech, I was asking her speech therapist to interpret the doctor report and Megan's tummy started to hurt and she said she wanted to go home and she started to cry, very unlike her:(. We stepped out for a bit and talked, she was feeling scared thinking they were going to do another test and put another tube down her throat. She felt much better knowing that wasn't going to happen. Pray for her as she prepares for and has surgery, that there would be no fear there.
Love you all!
